Is my peach tree done??

We bought this house last spring. The tree had lots of peaches last year. This year the leaves didnt even come in. My cherries and apples are in full bloom. The tree hasnt been properly trimmed and last year a couple branches broke off due to being too heavy. Now all the branches are really high up and spread out. Is it time to cut the tree down or can I trim it and next year get some leaves?????

Is my peach tree done??
I tried to find some good info but all I found was that they need full sun and not too much water. Also, pruning the trees each year helps to extend the trees longevity.

If I were you I would keep the tree. Prune it this year and give it a chance to hold fruit next season. I'm not sure if peach trees are like blackberry and raspberry bushes where they hold fruit every other year.

Can you start a peach tree from a seed (pit) from a peach?

Just wondering. I live in southern Ontario and you can grow peaches here. Just need to know if it's possible to start a tree from a seed and how to go about doing it.

Can you start a peach tree from a seed (pit) from a peach?
Yes it can be, though I don't know that the resulting plant would be true to its parent, but it will produce a tree. I would just go buy one. I have coming up in my yard quite often from our other peach trees.
Reply:you can plant it and it will grow but it will only be a seedling unless you bud it it will flower but thats it

DONUT PEACH tree seed. Who has some green thumb tips they can help me with??

Other than the basics, I'm just looking for some good advice so that this unique tree grows plenty of donut peaches someday. It's for my mom. :) Thanks!

DONUT PEACH tree seed. Who has some green thumb tips they can help me with??
I have been growing peaches for 25 years and never heard of a donut peach. Learn something new everyday. Hard to give you many tips I don't know what kind of climate you live in or what kind of soil you have. I am in Ca. we have 150 acres of peaches apricots and almonds. Over the years we are going more and more organic. They like a good fertilizer at least 2 times a year. Since I don't know what your soil make up is I'd say make or buy some compost. for a young tree put about 2 pounds around base of tree once in winter and late spring when they have flowers. You have to prune and shape them this is very important. You can buy books on pruning or go to the library. For a good organic spray that keeps away bugs heres one that we use. In a quart hose sprayer (you can get these at any garden store) put in 2 tables spoons of dish soap half a can of stale pepsi or coke and 2 table spoons of some kind of hot sause tabasco or anything like that. fill sprayer up the rest of the way with water and spray tree or trees till it drips off. the pepsi or coke (or you can use beer) feeds the trees the sugar breaks down very fast through the leaves and the trees really like it. It's like if you were having a candy bar. All fruit trees and vegtables break their food down to a type of sugar. The dish soap helps make the pepsi and hot sause stick and it cleans the trees also. All the bugs that bug fruit trees hate the hot sause it won't kill them but they won't bother the trees when they have this on them and won't hurt the trees any. That's about all I can tell you for now with limited info. If you are really serious about growing healthy trees get a soil sample tester. they are cheap and will tell you what the soil needs better than I can. It may need some lime or gypsm. Good Luck!
Reply:For the best flavor, allow them to ripen at room temperature. Then refrigerate them. Donut (Stark Saturn) Also called Saucer or Peento Peach. Unique white-fleshed fruit with a sunken center (shaped like a doughnut). Sweet, with a mild flavor described by some as almond-like. Ripens late June/early July in Central Calif. Estimated chilling requirement 400 - 500 hours. Self-fruitful.

My peach tree has aphids.... eeek, how do I get rid of them?

All the blossoms froze so no peaches for me this year, but there are aphids ALL over my tree! Any suggestions for a water in product?

My peach tree has aphids.... eeek, how do I get rid of them?
Put liquid dish soap and water in a spray bottle, or put it in a sprayer on the end of a hose spray the limbs of the tree. Put some dish soap directly on a rag and apply it to the tree trunk.

You can use this method for any plant or tree.
Reply:The best way to organically get rid of all those nasty aphids is to pick up some ladybug beetles at you garden center. They will gobble up all those nasty aphids in no time.

If you want to try a systemic insecticide use one made by Bayer, follow the directions on the label, but remember this stuff is highly toxic and this is a peach tree with eatable fruit. The Bayer systemic lasts for 3- 6 months. That would be the only water in type you asked about that would eliminate aphids and your problem would be gone and all the leaves that are effected will fall off. But not to worry they will recover. Also check with your local county extension service they may have some better solutions.
Reply:Ladybugs eat aphids. You can buy ladybugs on the internet or at some gardening stores.
Reply:Try spraying them with soapy water.

Only 'baby' ladybugs really eat aphids.
Reply:ladybugs!
Reply:Get a bag of ladybugs!
Reply:Frequent Inspection. Catch them early. One “colonizer” can produce up to 80 offspring in as little as a week and is capable of doing so several times. Slowly walk through your garden several times a week paying close attention to the underside of leaves. Also check for aphids on newly purchased plants and transplants.

Don’t over fertilize. Aphids prefer the new growth that is found in abundance in overly fertilized plants. Use only slow release fertilizers. It is also a good idea to grow plants inside or under a cover until they are large enough to be a little more tolerant.

Spray with water. A strong spray of water is an effective way to dislodge aphids from your plants. Most dislodged aphids will be unable to return to the plant. The Bug Blaster is a hose attachment that works great for this.

Home remedy for aphids. You can kill aphids by spraying, especially under the leaves, with a solution of 2 tsp mild dish or laundry soap to a bottle of luke warm water. The soap washes off the aphid’s protective waxy coating and causes dehydration. You can also mix three parts luke warm water to one part vegetable or horticultural oil and a couple drops of dish soap. This mixture can be sprayed on to clog the respiratory spiracles of aphids. Spray once a week taking turns between solutions. If using these solutions on food plants, be sure to wash them before eating. If using the oil solution, don’t spray on very hot and sunny days as the oil can magnify the sun and possibly harm the plant.

Prune away colonies. Aphids maintain the right to assemble. If you see a section of the plant containing aphids galore, snip it off and dispose of it. It doesn’t cure the problem but it will slow the advance.

If a peach can die a peach and be resurrected a peach tree?

why couldn't it be possible for me to die a man and be resurrected in the likeness of the God who created me? Isn't the evidence that the resurrection Jesus promised His followers will take place clearly seen in those things in nature that have been made?

If a peach can die a peach and be resurrected a peach tree?
A peach pit does not die and regenerate.
Reply:Unless your insides are made of peach pit... I see it as unlikely at best.
Reply:I guess you understand the soul. Kudos.
Reply:so god is a giant tree and we are seed-bearing fruit now? Nice analogy, but we plant plenty of people in the ground and nothing ever comes up.
Reply:I believe that there are many things in nature that teach us about God. A tree whose roots run very deep in the ground may bend during a storm but it remains firmly planted.( If we are rooted deep in our love and trust of God , the storms of life(trials and troubles )may shake and bend us but when the storm is over we still will be standing. If you plant seeds that are good(gentleness, forgiveness, love ETC) you will have a large harvest of these things to bless your life. If you plant bad seeds(hatred, envy, meaness) you will have a large harvest of these things to curse your life. Another lesson from nature would be the lesson that water can teach us.A little water is good(enjoying the good things of life in moderation) but water can also destroy by raging floods(overindulgence in material wealth, pleasures, and things that have no lasting value).these are only a few examples of the lessons that God teaches us through nature.
Reply:If you are truly His then you too, will rise up with a Glorified Body! (That is part of His Good News!) %26lt;')))%26gt;%26lt;
Reply:And when a peach tree dies, it usually becomes smoker chips.

http://www.amazon.com/Peach-Barbecue-Woo...
Reply:A peach becoming a tree is not resurrection -- it would have to become a *peach* again for your metaphor to be apt.

A peach becoming a peach tree is biology, which also shows us that dead things do not return to their former state of living.

Peach song in the ten worst of all time?

We were in Ireland and one of the radio stations had the ten worst songs of all time. One at or near the top was about a guy going to the country to get some peaches. Who was the artist and what was the year of release?

Peach song in the ten worst of all time?
artist: Presidents Of The United States Of America Lyrics song : Peaches

Moving to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches

I'm Moving to the country, I'm gonna eat me a lot of peaches

I'm Moving to the country I'm gonna eat a lot of peaches

Moving to the country I'm gonna eat a lot of peaches

Peaches come from a can

They were put there by a man

In a factory downtown

And if I head my little way

I'd eat peaches everyday

Sun-soaked bulges in the shade

Moving to the country, I'm gonna eat a lot of peaches

Moving to the country, I'm gonna eat a lot of peaches

I'm Moving to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches

Moving to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches

I took a little nap where the roots all twist

Squished your rotten peach in my fist

And dreamed about you, woman

I poked my finger down inside

Make a little room for an ant to hide

Nature's candy in my hand or can or pie

Millions of peaches, peaches for me

Millions of peaches, peaches for free

Millions of peaches, peaches for me

Millions of peaches, peaches for free... Look out!

Millions of peaches peaches for me

Millions of peaches peaches for free

Millions of peaches peaches for me

Millions of peaches, peaches for free... Look out!

I think it must have been at least 10 years ago.
Reply:THAT was in the top ten worst songs of all time?????? I prefer that song to just about anything in the charts now.
Reply:It was Presidents of the USA and it was out in 1996. Bit shocking that it made the 10 worst ever; there's a hell of a lot worse than that out there....

Many choices to choose from and ENJOY!
Reply:INGREDIENTS

6 large fresh peaches

2/3 cup white sugar

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon canola oil

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon almond extract

1/2 cup lowfat buttermilk

DIRECTIONS

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Bring a large saucepan of water to a boil.

Score the stem end of each peach and place the peaches in the boiling water. Boil for about 1 minute, or until the skins soften. Transfer to a bowl of cold water to cool, then peel, halve and pit the peaches.

In a 9-inch cast-iron skillet, combine 1/3 cup of the sugar with 1 tablespoon of the butter. Cook over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the sugar begins to melt. Add the peaches to the skillet, cut-side up, in one layer (the fruit should fit tightly). Remove the pan from the heat and set aside.

In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; set aside.

In a large bowl, with an electric mixer at medium speed, beat the remaining 1/3 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon butter with the oil until combined. Add the egg, beating until smooth, then beat in the vanilla and almond extract. With the mixer at low speed, add the buttermilk and the reserved flour mixture, beating until just incorporated.

Spoon the batter evenly over the peaches in the skillet, place the skillet in the oven and bake, uncovered, at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C), for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a cake tester inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Transfer the skillet to a wire rack to cool for 3 to 4 minutes. Loosen the edges of the cake with a knife. Invert the cake onto a serving plate. If any of the peaches stick to the skillet, remove them with a knife and replace them on the cake

most fruits have most of the vitamins in the skin. Im sure peaches are in the same boat :) I dont think the skins of a peach are bad as everyone most of the time eats them. If they were bad ppl would peel them, and if you have a ripe peach, would be very hard to do !

Does a peach tree have peaches every year?Mine since Katrina has not bloomed again?
It sounds as if your tree may have gone into a state of shock since Katrina. Its only been one growing season. I would give it up to 2 or 3 before you can expect it to produce fruit again.
Reply:Mine did till the year that it died from peach tree borer. Look for a hole with sap coming out to find if yours has a fatal problem.

If not it should go back to fruiting again. Did you see fat fruit buds? Did you have blossoms? Dd they stay or fall off?
Reply:If your peach tree is close to the shore and has been subjected to salt water, it may be having to deal with the effects of salt around the roots. I've seen peach trees that went through tornadoes in Texas bear fruit again the next year, but salt could be a major problem for a tree. Check with a local nursery or a county extension horticulturist to see what you can do about this, if anything, or if you will simply have to give it time to leech out of the soil. Good luck!
Reply:salt water will do a number on any kind of tree .

it takes a while for a tree to show singhs of stress from a storm or a drought it could take any wear form 2 -13 years when you prune a fruit bareing tree to produse fruit you need to "stress the tree " trees produse fruit when they think thay are going to die so prune it hard make some bigger cuts and next year you should have peachs
Reply:Some trauma will keep peach trees from bearing fruit for several years. Try batting the branches a bit with a padded stick in late winter before buds appear. Sounds strange, but sometimes this helps. I've grown peaches for years, and they can be temperamental trees.

Also, you may not be pruning aggressively enough. Cut out your non-bearing branches. Here's a good link.
Reply:You are probably lacking Bees. Take some water mixed well with sugar and put it in a spray bottle and douse your tree with that. This will attract more bees to your tree which should help get it properly polinated.
Reply:Usually. Mine since K appears to be 2/3 dead. I had planted it in about 1999 and it never has done that great. The salt water drained from my neighborhood pretty quickly, but my tree is still pretty stresses. I figure that since I want to plant a bunch of palm trees (which made it through K much better) that I will be getting rid of it soon. Michelle

Help with making peach jam?

i'm halfway through cooking peaches and sugar and ive realised i should have peeled the peaches according to the recipe. will this matter? also they were really hard peaches that i was trying to use up and they dot seem to be softening, how long should it take?

Help with making peach jam?
try this one..

Wash, peel, pit and chop peaches-you want 10 cups.

Place all ingredients in a large glass bowl and let stand for 1 hour.

Transfer to a large stainless or enamel pot.

Bring to a full boil.

Boil for 25 minutes to reach the jell point-stir often and then constantly as the mixture nears the jell point.

Remove and skim off foam.

Ladle into clean hot jars leaving 1/4 inch head space.

Process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
Reply:you are going to have to scrap this batch and start over. You should have blanched them first then peeled the skin off. No one is going to want to eat peach jam that still has the skin on it.
Reply:Things You'll Need

3 lbs. peaches to yield 4 cups crushed fruit

1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

7 cups sugar

3 oz. liquid fruit pectin

Step One

Wash jars in hot soapy water and rinse. Place them on a rack in the sink and pour boiling water in and over each jar. Drain. Keep the jars hot by transferring them to a cookie tray and placing it in a 200-degree F oven.

Step Two

Prepare the lids by placing them in a saucepan of gently boiling water.

Step Three

Place the peaches in a colander and rinse them under cool running water. Cut the peaches in half, then remove and discard the pits. Place the fruit in a food processor and process for 35 to 45 seconds until it is quite smooth.

Step Four

Measure the crushed peaches into a 6- or 8-qt. pot. Stir sugar and lemon juice into the fruit and mix well. Bring the mixture to a full rolling boil over high heat, stirring constantly.

5Step FiveAdd fruit pectin and return to a full rolling boil. Boil hard for 1 minute, stirring constantly to prevent scorching.

Step Six

Remove the jam from the heat and skim off and discard any foam using a metal spoon. Ladle the jam into a liquid measuring cup and fill the jars immediately to within 1/8 inch of the tops.

Step Seven

Wipe the jar rims and threads with a clean, damp cloth.

Step Eight

Remove the jar lids from boiling water using tongs and place them on a paper towel. Wipe them dry.

Step Nine

Place the lids on the jars and screw them on tightly. Invert the jars for 5 minutes, then turn them upright.

1Step Ten

Check the seals after 1 hour to make sure the lids are curving down.

Tips %26amp; Warnings

When using a 2-piece lid, both pieces need to be sterilized in boiling water.

If desired, the water bath process may be used in place of the inversion method. Follow the first 8 steps. Place lids on jars and screw them on tightly. Place jars on a sturdy rack in a canner or large saucepan of boiling water to cover the jars by 1 to 2 inches. Place the lid on the canner and bring water back to a boil. Boil 5 minutes for 8-oz. jars. Remove jars from the canner and let cool. Check the seals after 1 hour to make sure the lids are curving down.

Good Luck
Reply:easiest way to make any jam is to release the pectin of the fruit, this enables it to turn to jam. Base recipe for any fruit jam is 1 part fruit to 1 part sugar. Add the fruit to a pot and bring to the boil with the juice of 1 lemon. This will help release the natural pectin within the fruit. Mash the fruit down if you want it crushed or leave it whole for a more chunky jam. Add the sugar and bring to the boil, simmer for a futher 15min. To ensure its ready, test a spoonful on a ice cold plate. If you are able to drag a line through the jam and it holds, its set. If not continue to simmer at intervals of 10min till ready.

Freezing Peach Cobbler?

If I bake a cobbler with fresh peaches, can I freeze it and warm it later? Will it get too soggy? Should I use fruit fresh if I do?

Should I prep it, freeze it 'raw" and then bake later? I have tons of fresh peaches to use up and I would like to make a couple of cobblers to eat this Fall. Thanks in advance...

Freezing Peach Cobbler?
You could make the whole thing and freeze it, without baking. The peaches may turn a little wierd looking (not that you will really see them under that crumbly mix), but they will be going in the oven at some point, so it won't really matter. And as it doesn't take too long to bake them, there would be little point in baking then freezing, just make sure they are defrosted properly before baking.

Why is my peach tree dropping so many peaches?

The peaches that are dropping should be ripe ones. They feel ripe but they are green. Is this some new variety of peaches%26gt;

Or are they going to change colors soon?

Why is my peach tree dropping so many peaches?
'my3-' has the watering correct, but peaches as well as other fruit go through natural drops. The first to be shed are the improperly pollinated, next to go are those that touch branches and lastly the ones that touch each other. These are the ones you have on the ground now. You can leave these to ripen on there own, but they'll taste "store bought". This is the time for you to do the final culling. Remove any that are are still touching branches or each other. This will produce a larger crop of large blemish free fruit. One last thing, invest in some bird netting. RScott
Reply:It needs more water.

We discovered this through our personal experience. If you put the hose on a trickle under the tree for about 7 minutes each day it should be enough water.

Spread on hot biscuits and whole-grain toast, or stir a spoonful into plain yogurt for breakfast.

Ingredients:

3 pounds freestone peaches

ice water

5 cups sugar

2/3 cup strained fresh lemon juice, or more to taste

Instructions:

Cut an X in the rounded end of each peach. Bring a saucepan full of water to a boil over high heat. Have ready a bowl of ice water. Add peaches a few at a time to the boiling water and blanch 30 seconds, then transfer to the ice water to stop the cooking. When cool, lift out and peel. The skin should peel back easily from the X.

Cut peaches into wedges about 1/2 inch thick, then cut each wedge in half crosswise. Transfer to a large bowl, add sugar and lemon juice and stir well. Let stand several hours or overnight, stirring two or three times, until sugar dissolves and mixture no longer tastes grainy.

Transfer to a large pot, bring to a simmer over moderately high heat and simmer, skimming any white foam that collects on the surface, until peaches are tender and syrup thickens slightly, 25 to 30 minutes. Transfer to a large bowl, cover and let rest overnight to "plump" the fruit again.

Drain the fruit in a sieve set over a bowl. Taste the syrup and add more lemon juice if it seems too sweet. Return the syrup to a pot and cook over moderately high heat until it reaches 220°F (105°C). Or test for jamlike consistency by spooning a little onto a chilled saucer, then returning the saucer to the freezer for a couple of minutes to cool the syrup quickly. It should firm to a soft jelly consistency.

Return the peaches and any collected juices to the pot and cook a couple of minutes more, until mixture returns to 220°F (105°C). It will seem thin. Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes, then spoon into clean, hot jars to within 1/2 inch from the top. Wipe rim clean with a towel dipped in hot water. Place lids and rings on jars and seal tightly. Cool and refrigerate for up to 3 months. Or, for longer storage, place just-filled jars in boiling water to cover by 1 inch and boil 15 minutes for half-pint jars, 20 minutes for pint jars. Transfer with tongs to a rack to cool; lids should form a seal. Sealed jars may be stored in a pantry for up to a year.

Yield: makes 3 pints

Peach Jam

Ingredients:

4 pounds peach pulp

2 pounds sugar

1 cup peach juice

Instructions:

Remove peach skins, then put fruit through a food chopper. Weigh, add the peach juice, bring slowly to a boil, add sugar, and over high heat stir gently but continuously to keep from scorching. When the jam tears off the spoon, remove from heat and let stand 3 to 5 minutes, again stirring gently to dissolve froth and foam.

Pour into hot jars, leaving 1/4 inch headroom; simmer at 180°F (82°C) in a hot-water bath for 15 minutes. Remove jars; let cool upright and naturally.

For spiced jam: to this rule add a spice bag containing 3 inches of cinnamon stick, broken; 1 tsp whole allspice; 2 tsp whole cloves; and 1 tsp of minced fresh gingerroot. Remove the spice bag before filling jars.

Honey Peach Jam

Ingredients:

1/4 tsp mace

1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

1 Tbsp cinnamon

1-1/2 tsp whole cloves

3 pounds fresh peaches, blanched, peeled, and puréed

2-1/2 cups raw honey

1/4 cup lemon juice

3/4 cup fresh orange juice

Instructions:

Tie the spices in a cheesecloth bag. Combine ingredients and simmer together until the mixture thickens. Remove the spices. Pour jam into hot, sterilized jars. Seal.

Variation: Try using fresh apricots or plums.

Yield: 3 pints

Reply:Upside Down Peach -Amaretto Cake

Serving Size : 6

1 1/2 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 Pinch kosher salt

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 Cup soy milk -- MIXED with 1 tsp. lemon juice

1 egg equivalent -- 1/2 tbsp. EnerG Egg Replacer mixed with 2 tbsp. water

1/2 Cup brown sugar

1/4 Cup amaretto - (or 2 t. almond extract w/additional liquid)

4 1/2 cups sliced peaches -- (1/2 " thick)

Preheat oven to 375º.

Combine dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Combine soymilk and egg substitute in separate cup.

In a cast iron or other ovenproof skillet, spray pan twice with nonstick spray. (This step is key, even in a nonstick pan. The caramelized juices will stick to the bottom without a barrier.) Melt the brown sugar with a bit of water or juice until the sugar dissolves. Be careful not to overcook or it will turn into hard candy. You want a maple syrup consistency. Add amaretto and stir well. Remove from heat.

Layer peaches in skillet, overlapping each layer. Add soymilk mixture to dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Pour batter over peaches. Bake ~35-40 minutes. Invert over serving plate. It is delicious served slightly warm with a bit of vanilla soy ice cream.

How should I make peach cobbler with a jar of peaches already sweetened with Splenda?

I have a jar of peaches in juice sweetened with Splenda. It might help to note that I do NOT like the taste of Splenda, so if anyone can offer a way to hide that Splenda taste, that would be appreciated. I'm not trying to go out of my way to make it sugar free or anything, I'm fine with using sugar. These just happen to be the peaches I have at the moment. I am afraid to try a traditional recipie I have using frozen peaches, because, the sweetener, plus the sugar in the recipie combined would probably make it too sweet.

Melt 1 stick butter or margarine in a 8-9' square pan in 350 oven

Pour batter on top of melted butter

Spoon Any Fruit on Top.

Bake 45 to 50 minutes.

*serve warm or cold

--* Top with cool whip or vanilla Ice cream if desired
Reply:Drain the peaches first. The liquid is where most of the Splenda is. Find a recipe you think sounds good, make it up, taste it for sweetness and add sugar or brown sugar if needed. Cinnamon will really help hide the Splenda taste.

Reply:Put the peaches in the baking dish. Sprinkle brown sugar over them. For the topping, mix one cup of flour, one cup of brown sugar, 3/4 cup of oatmeal, and a stick of butter. Using a fork, blend the butter into the dry ingredients. When they are all mixed together, sprinkle the mixture on top of the peaches. Bake at 350 degrees until the peaches are bubbly. This is very good. I hope yours turns out well. Good luck.
Reply:Heat up the can of peaches, juice and all and put it in a frying pan. You could add some sugar if you want them sweeter.

Make some dumplings, you could put some sugar in them since it is going to be a dessert.

Put spoonfuls of the dumpling mixture on the peaches and put the lid on and simmer it for 20 minutes.

Fresh Peaches Stuffed With Macaroons

2-3 Tablespoons of ice water

4 teaspoons peach, red currant or raspberry preserves

Reply:Broiled Peach Halves with Vanilla and Black Peppercorns

A lighter but intensely flavored offering, this dish can be served with or without ice cream and a plain cookie or slice of cake. It is sweet but not too sweet and a little piquant, so it can also serve as an accompaniment to a main course like roast chicken.

Ingredients

8 peaches, pitted, halved, but not peeled

1 tablespoon butter, softened

Glaze:

¾ cup no-sugar-added peach or peach-apple juice

3 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon whole black peppercorns

3 tablespoons dark rum (optional)

2 tablespoon peach liqueur (optional)

2 tablespoons coarse sugar, such as turbinado

Vanilla ice cream (optional)

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 425F. Toss peach halves with softened butter, and butter a shallow baking dish, or 2 smaller dishes, large enough to accommodate the peaches without squeezing them in (a little air space around them is desirable). Place peaches, hollow side up, in the dish(es). Bake, uncovered, for 15 minutes.

2. Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, combine all glaze ingredients and bring to a hard boil. Let cook 5 to 7 minutes or until slightly reduced and syrupy. (If you’re omitting the brandy and peach liqueur, make up the difference with extra juice).

Remove peaches from oven, and raise oven temperature to broil. Strain peppercorns from glaze. Pour glaze over peaches and sprinkle a little turbinado over each peach half.

3. Broil peaches for 3 to 5 minutes, watching closely, until sugar melts and caramelizes. Serve a bit of the glaze over each peach half; if accompanying with ice cream, drizzle glaze over the ice cream.

Serves 4 as dessert; 8 as side dish.

Preparation:

Fill the little tarts with pastry cream. Cut the peaches in rounded pieces. Place them on the little tarts, and cover them with the cream topping. Garnish with cherries. Put it in the fridge for 2 hours.

Enjoy.
Reply:Slice them in half and grill them. They will get some pretty grill marks but won't lose the taste. Or maybe pack some brown sugar in the middle of them and pop them in the oven for a few minutes until they get soft.. yummy!!! Good luck and enjoy!!!
Reply:bake a peach cake, buy using a yellow cake mix and instead of water use peach juice or even orange juice as a substitue. Let cake cool. While cake is baking cut up 5 or so peaches into small pieces add about 1 cup brown sugar, some cream if you like for thickening and about 5 table spoon butter and some peach juice. Cook over medium heat until peaches are soft and serve over a slice of your cake.
Reply:Cut them in half, de-pit, and grill them cut side down until the peaches start to caramelize and brown. Lay cut side up on a plate or in a bowl and put in a scoop of (real) vanilla ice cream...this is soooo easy and delicious! The peaches get this wonderful caramelization to them from the grill - goes great with the vanilla!

Peach muffins?

I put peaches in a plain muffin mix, and I keep adding more time to the baking but it looks still liquid. Do I keep adding time? Whats causing that? is it the peaches?

Peach muffins?
Dont add peaces untl its done.Or chop them up.
Reply:raise the temp to the oven check often if that does not cook them you may haft to take little flour spoon full at a time stir with a tooth pick return them to normal tempature oven
Reply:butter the pan and bake peach slices alone until surface is dried up then chop them up into the size your prefer and mix them into the muffin mix.

for a sweeter taste; sprinkle some sugar onto the peaches before baking.
Reply:Are they fresh peaches? Or canned. Canned ones hold alot of moisture and need to be drained completely. Using dried fruit has a more predictable outcome and does not effect the moisture level of your muffins. You could decrease the amount of liquid in the recipe by 1/4 cup.But after the fact, you may want to decrease the oven temperature by 25 degrees to allow it cook more evenly and cook a little longer. But watch them carefully. How much peaches did you put in with the mix? Is the mix like a Jiffy mix? Or a full size muffin mix? If you have not baked all of the batter yet , try adding some flour 1/4 cup to start, then bake a few. If the batter isn't thick , it needs more dry ingredients.
Reply:They are probably too moist. I often use dried fruit such as apricots.
Reply:If you add fresh or canned peaches, you need to reduce the amount of water you add to the mix. It's going to look uncooked because you need to bake out most of the moisture to make them dry to fluff up.

"Um, w..well, miss, I'm, um, selling some peaches and was wondering if you would like any?"

"Peaches, hm?" says the woman. "I do so adore the taste of them. Let me ask you a few questions and perhaps we can do business."

"First," the woman says, running her hand seductively over her breasts, "Do you find me attractive?"

"Y..yes." the salesman manages to stutter.

"Second," the woman says, licking her lips, "Would you like to have your way with me?"

"Y...yes miss." the salesman again stutters.

I wouldn't worry.

Just make sure that if you have fish or other seafood that it is thoroughly cooked.
Reply:A lot of pregant women really crave red meat- I did and I don't even like red meat. I ate a lot of red meat and green veggies and I delivered on my due date a 10 pounder...Good luck!
Reply:Sure. That is how I eat my steak too. It's a great source of iron. Congrats!
Reply:I eat my steak almost raw if its a good cut. You will be fine
Reply:You shouldn't worry about doneness in steak when pregnant as long as it's rare or more cooked. I've never heard anything about not eating raw steak either (steak tartare).

They don't want you to eat raw fish when pregnant. You should refrain from eating the real sushi such as raw mackerel, tuna or octopus, etc. The california rolls with the crab meat are supposed to be fine since those are actually cooked, as are the shrimp sushi.

Raw or undercooked pork or chicken is never healthy, pregnant or not. They also want you to limit shellfish and fish due to concerns of mercury, etc. but you can still have some fish when pregnant.
Reply:oh lol i thought you were trying to say the steak made you pregnant. lol
Reply:No problem at all - you can eat your steak blue when you're pg if you want to. It's chicken and shellfish you need to watch out for.
Reply:It was cooked medium to medium-well; you'll be fine

Head right. When you get to the platform, slide under the wall. Use Perry to

hit the ball into the bricks to disintegrate them. Collect Puzzle C Piece 7 and

jump up to the pipe above.

When you get across the quicksand, use Joy to reach an almost out-of-sight

platform. Jump up the pipe to enter a scrolling area. Destroy the Pokeys with

Rage. When you get to the end, claim the first Toad, jump out, and drop

straight down. Continue. Avoid the Big Chain Chomp and go down the pipe at the

end.

Slide under the wall, break the blocks, and free the second Toad. Jump up and

go down the pipe.

Hit the blue ! block, then go up the ladder and run across. Hit the other !

block to stop the waterfalls. Drop down and find the final Toad just to your

left. Continue and go down the pipe.

Head right. Jump up the ladder, run until you can fall. Fall, go left, down the

pipe.

Hill Slide the Goombas, go right. Kill the Piranha Plants (careful of the Glad

one at the top) and go down the pipe.

Head right to the end of the level.

Head right. Sad Ravens can stun you with their cries... a Calm Lakitu is

nearby. Continue to the pipe.

Head right through a Big Chain Chomp section, laugh as the Nipper Plants get

killed off, and head right to another pipe.

Ignore the coin arrow pointing up. Instead, continue right. When you jump

across the gap with two platforms in it, use Joy and fly straight up to another

platform. Ride the arrow across to find the first Toad. Drop down and go all

the way right. Enter the pipe.

Go right and enter the pipe. Gloom the sand pillar and collect Puzzle C Piece

8. Go back up the pipe and left. Go down the ladder and follow the path down.

When you get to the bottom, go left to find the second Toad. Go back right and

enter the pipe.

Head right through the Subrella section.

As soon as you see Lakitu, kill him and hijack his cloud. Go up and right, and

up the pipe.

Fall down. There is a chance you will see the star enemy again. It is sleeping,

so walk up to it and give it a good whack. If you don't see it, go down the

pipe and then go down it again. Continue to do this until the star enemy shoes

up. Once you've whacked him, go down the pipe. Drop down into the quicksand. Go

left to the opening, and fall through. Gloom the sand pillar away and free the

final Toad.

Jump back into the pipe and head right to the level's end.

*I will continue next section since it's a Boss Stage...

Boss Stage 5-6

===========

Your stylus game is the same as in Hoo's Wood, except you get to dodge spears

instead of brambles. Shouldn't be any harder.

Your boss this time around is none other than Gooper Blooper.

His four tentacles will try to grab you. Watch the ends to see which one is

coming at you. Avoid their grasp, then hit them with Perry or jump on them to

make Gooper Blooper retract them. When all four are retracted, Blooper will

spit ink and then expose his nose. When it flashes, strike it with Perry to

deal damage. While he's stunned, wash the ink away with Gloom. Do this three

more times. After the second hit, his tentacles will sometimes strike the

ground, temporarily stunning you if you're on the ground.

After the fourth hit, Gooper Blooper will put up a shield that will restore his

HP if left alone. Destroy it with Rage, and he will continue attack as normal.

Hit him again and he dies.

Watch the next part of Perry's dream. He is really starting to want to know the

meaning behind these dreams, but... once you've rested for a bit, we've got

enemies to fight! Gleam Glacier awaits!

Is the kid that s in arthur and the invisibles the same kid thats in james and the giant peach?
James was played by a kid named Paul Terry http://imdb.com/name/nm0856057/

Arthur was played by a kid named Freddie Highmore http://imdb.com/name/nm0383603/

James and the Giant Peach came out in 1996 and the kid from it is 5 years older than the kid from Arthur
Reply:The Kid from Arthur is the same one from, Charlie(not Willy Wonka) and the chocolate factory. Also he starred in Finding Neverland.

That may be where you know him from.
Reply:No...

Actually,

They are both 2 different boys of the age 10 and 11 and Arthur turned 12 in the making of the movie.

Good point though about the James and the Giant peach being from 10 years ago...

Which is the best way to get rid of bugs and worms that can damage the fruits on a peach tree?

I lost the harvest of my peach tree due to worms and bugs bites done to the fruits.

Which is the best way to get rid of bugs and worms that can damage the fruits on a peach tree?
NEVER NEVER apply anything to a fruit tree or bush when it is in flower, or you will harm its pollinators--most likely bees, and they're already in perilous shape! Either apply before the buds open, or wait until after all the flower petals have fallen off.

Without knowing where you're located and exactly what's munching on your peaches, prescribing treatment is pure guesswork. But if you will contact your local County Extension Agent, he/she can probably identify the culprit or culprits and advise on what to apply and when.

Our County Agent mailed us a very informative sheaf of papers describing various common local pests and diseases of peach trees and the appropriate chemicals and spray schedules. It was very helpful, and has improved our fruit amazingly.

He also advised us to water, water, water, so that the trees receive at least an inch of water per week, if not from rainfall, then from our hose. (This year's water has a lot to do with the quality of both this year's crop and next year's.)

And he explained the necessity for thinning fruit, which helps to produce plenty of fruit of a nice size and fine quality without wearing out the trees. When the little peaches are about an inch long, thin them by carefully snapping off fruit until there is 6 to 8 inches of branch between the peaches that remain. If the tree has been stressed by weather or disease, consider its leafiness when thinning: A peach requires the support of 35 healthy leaves to ripen properly and fully.
Reply:spray with a systemic insecticide at the time of flowering and after the appearance of foliage. This will protect plants for a month so repeat the process.
Reply:the only way is to spray, fruit fly and other insects love fruit trees, get advice for best spray from gardening centres, always cover your face when spraying
Reply:they have organic ways of treating for pests. Most of it is preventive. One of the best is a sticky barrier that you wrap around the trunk of the tree to keep the bugs from crawling up.

You can find all sorts of things to help at Gardens Alive.com
Reply:Off the top of my head I'd suggest getting some netting that would prevent the bugs from actually getting to the fruits. But that has a drawback as well, it might prevent beneficial insects from pollinating flowers that are used in the production of fruit.

If you would be so kind as to go back and edit your question as to the specific type of bugs/worms that are attacking your fruits, the question would be easier to answer. Each kind of bug/worm has different methods for removal/prevention, thus requiring you to be more specific.
Reply:Bagging each fruit may help. Use small sandwich bags to ziploc each fruit into a safe haven! This is tedious, I know. If you have a lot of fruits, it is not the solution. But then, one removes many fruits to leave one or two to make them big, right? There can't be many fruits to bag after that.

It doesn't do a thing to help if the bug eggs have been laid already on the ovary of the flower bud and are growing at the same slow rate as the flower, so that by the time the fruit is formed, they are already in tenancy.

The best bet is to get some insect killer spray which can degrade into something non-toxic. There are also insecticides which are non-toxic to humans to begin with.

Nowadays, there are what we call biological warfare against pests. Set up other insects to eat up the insects on your fruits. I wonder if ladybugs would be effective to give you some fruits at least.

Ask advice from fruit growers. Their remedies can't be a secret surely. What they do, you can do, short of poisoning yourself with potent insecticides that can harm humans.

If i put rogaine foam the foam old men use to grow ther hair back on my armpit peach fuz will it make it grow?

the foam they put on there head to make the hair grow bak.. if i put it under my armpits on the peach fuz will it make it grow faster? i really am tired of my bball teamates makeing fun of my hairless pits except wen it is time to shower then i have to make fun at there small things.. just wanted to know to get some hairy armpits thx..

If i put rogaine foam the foam old men use to grow ther hair back on my armpit peach fuz will it make it grow?
Ew. You WANT hairy armpits?

You're just really lucky not to have hair there.
Reply:Ew.

Why would you WANT hairier armpits? That's just so gross. They're being dumb because most women don't want men with piles of hair coming out under their arm :D

Plus, I wouldn't recommend using that on any other part of the body
Reply:It does not make hair regrow, it just keeps hair from falling out. Appearantly there is a chemical in a mans hair follicle that if you have the baldness gene and it is time for it to do its thing the rograine will prevent that chemical from working. Check out Dr. OZ from Oprah...he will give you man's health advice on this.
Reply:Being a woman with plenty of hair, I'm not exactly an expert on the subject, but I would say don't bother. From what I understand of it, Rogaine is effective but not worth the trouble. You have to apply it every day, twice a day, and it apparently takes a while to see results. By the time you get the hairy pits you want, your teammates will probably have lost interest in teasing you about them anyway. If that isn't enough to stop you, then I say go for it. If it's safe for use on your scalp, it's probably safe for your arm pits. Just stop using it if you notice your skin getting irritated.

If I were you, I'd just tell your boys that that's how the ladies like them and concentrate on showing them up on the court.
Reply:Probably not. There may be some small chance, but it would more than likely just irritate your skin.
Reply:Dude, don't worry about the dumbasses that have insecurities who feel like they need to take it out on somebody else by pointing out something so pointless as that. In my experience (I have a normal amount of arm pit hair) girls really prefer a guy who has less arm pit hair, versus somebody who is like a yak.

Are the people in the navy boot camp going to inspect how well i shaved my face, including peach fuzz?

is it important that they see no hair what so ever including peach fuzz

Are the people in the navy boot camp going to inspect how well i shaved my face, including peach fuzz?
Yes they will. And the reason will become quite apparent when you go off to the gas chamber for training. If you aren't clean-shaven your gas mask isn't going to fit tightly and your face will be telling you that for a few days after.
Reply:Yes! you are to be clean shaven at all times. My husbands hair on his face grows ridiculously fast. He would go to formation in the morning and be clean shaven. Then for final formation he would get yelled at because he didn't shave...when he did shave that morning. haha So yes..you have to be clean shaven. a 5 oclock shadow is a no no...

and you dont have to shave your face daily. your haircut has to be kept within regulation and that doesnt mean you have to shave all of your hair off. when you first get there they will shave it completely but after that, you can keep it in a high n tight which isn't completely shaved. I know for my husband he just cant have hair on the back of his neck (has to be very trimmed), cant have hair touching his ears, and the front has to be trimmed just like the back.
Reply:my boyfriend told me he had to shave head and face daily...
Reply:When I was in boot camp about two years ago, I had to shave at least once a day. My facial hair grows pretty quick so usually by the afternoon I would get told to shave again. On inspection days, I would sometimes shave 3 times in one day. If you are still pretty young and it doesn't grow fast you could probably get away with not shaving for a few days but you can fail an inspection if they see any facial hair. I missed one little hair on my neck and got marked down a point for it. If you have really light hair, like blonde no one will notice.
Reply:i wouldn't even think of not being clean shaven if i were u
Reply:clean shaven means clean shaven. Shave it of or have issues. Example of what happens if you do not, having to dry shaven infront of your platoon.
Reply:Dude, I was the peach fuzziest skinny 18 year old basic trainee...but trust me, if they see one glint of hair in the light...you're getting ripped up.

I learned new lessons in simple and compound swearing from my military training instructor.

College Football: would going back in time really be so bad? Long ago if a school won the Peach Bowl, they ..?

they were proud 2b Peach Bowl Champions for that year, no one could take that away, or they'd be the losers, but looked forward2 next season when once again their team might make the school proud as Gator Bowl Champions, or whatever Bowl they earned an invitation to -- meanwhile, the students %26amp; student-athletes went back2 class %26amp; most people refocused on what was important the majority of days of the year - their family, friends, studies, being good citizens, getting an education, etc. But today it's all @ the money, how many bowl games can we have, can we take even further advantage of these young men, can we further wind up the American sports fan, brainwashing them in to gambling more, drinking more advertisements, convincing them there MUST be a champion of Division 1A football? How the heck did BYU get in 14 games a few years back?! What's wrong with just being Liberty Bowl Champs or Cotton Bowl Champions? Looking out for the kids?

Yes, back then they debated #1 - and loved it !

College Football: would going back in time really be so bad? Long ago if a school won the Peach Bowl, they ..?
This is the best arguement I've heard for keeping the bowl system. I think there should be great pride in winning a bowl game. However, I do feel like there needs to be a true national champion or the season just seems kind of pointless. You're working your butt off for a conference championship and bowl win. As special as that is, 32 other teams will have bowl wins, and 10 other teams will have conference championships. The games will be better if you're playing for a national championship every week.

I do wish there was a play-off system. 16 teams would be too many for the sake of the players health, they still need to go pro and make some money. I would like to see a 4 team and you must win your conference title. This season would be USC, Oklahoma, Ohio State, and LSU. No arguement there. The other bowls can be played.
Reply:Hi. I totally agree.

I'm a Michigan fan. Back in the day, we were happy to go to the Rose Bowl...it was the Big Ten champ against the Pac Ten champ. It was great! Now it's totally confusing and very unfair how the teams are picked and matched up.

GO BLUE!
Reply:I'm a fan of the Bowl system. The BCS is the latest attempt to define a national champion.

In a playoff system, you'll always have teams 9 and 10 that thought they should have gotten into the tournament. The people that argue for a playoff say that the teams that are hot have a chance to pull off upsets and win it. What about teams 9 and 10 in an 8 team bracket?

When I was a kid, the Cotton Bowl was the ultimate reward for the Southwest Conference Champ (normally A %26amp; M back in those days). There was a lot more emphasis on education and such back then.

Also, no more bowls with only the sponsor names! Change it back to the Peach Bowl, for crying out loud, or the Citrus Bowl! And no new bowls with just the sponsor name!
Reply:Yeah it does seem that the old system was better.
Reply:I would prefer the old system to the flawed BCS sytem, but thats just my opinion.
Reply:I remember those good ole days of the MYTHICAL national championship. OOPS WE HAVE THAT AGAIN THIS YEAR! But back then people weren't trying to fix a champion on someone.

If they can't come up with an 8 to 16 team playoff get rid of the BCS.
Reply:I would like to see a definitive playoff system, because the games outside of the BCS title games are little more than exhibition games.

I've never heard of a school overjoyed to win the Humanitarian Bowl, the Tires.com Bowl, etc.
Reply:Ya I guess striving to get better things is a sin anymore. We should all be happy with mediocrity. Go look up the amount of money a team gets for going to the peach bowl and compare it to the sugar bowl or the fiesta bowl or the orange bowl and tell me it doesn't matter.

That 30 million for going to a BCS game benefits all schools in all conferences. Not just for football. But those precious things you guys hold onto at your campus. Libraries Dorms Athletic Equipment, better profressors. This all stems from the money a campus can generate. And there is more money in football then any other program.

If I was you I wouldn't bite the hand that feeds you.

How to dye a canopy net made out of polyester?its called ivory but looks like peach?
i have never had any luck dyeing polyester, but check out this website for dylon dye. they may have the answer you need. you can probably email or phone their customer service.
Reply:http://www.pburch.net/dyeing/dispersedye...
Reply:Polyester can only be dyed with a special polyester dye called disperse dye. You cannot dye polyester with the same dyes you would use on a natural fiber or on hair, because they simply will not stick to polyester. Rit dye won't work, Procion dye won't work, Dylon dye won't work. You must boil your polyester for an hour in disperse dye.

To buy disperse dye, you must mail-order from a good dye supplier. In the US, order disperse dye from PRO Chemical %26amp; Dye in Massachusetts, or Aljo Mfg. in New York, or try the new "iDye Poly" being sold by Dharma Trading Company (avoid the all-purpose dye "iDye" without the "Poly" in the name, because only the "Poly" version of "iDye" will work on polyester). In Australia, order disperse dye from The Thread Studio, KraftKolour or Batik Oetoro. In the UK and Europe, order disperse dye from Omega Dyes, Rainbow Silks, or other companies listed on the page "Sources for Dyeing Supplies Around the World" as having disperse or transfer dye.

You can also use a good fabric paint, instead of dye. Jacquard brand fabric paints, such as Dye-Na-Flow or Neopaque, will stick to synthetic fibers such as polyester, in addition to natural fibers. Dye-Na-Flow will have the least adverse effect of any fabric paint on the texture of your net, especially if you dilute it with one-third part water before use, although, unlike dye, all fabric paints will make the netting a little bit less soft to the touch than before.

If you return your peach-colored netting for some white, it will be easier to color it tan. You can color polyester a light tan by boiling it for an hour in strong coffee, of all things. The advantage of this is that you can use your best large cooking pot to do it. You must not use your best cooking pot for disperse dyes or any other commercial dyes, because it is not food safe. (Never reuse a dyepot for food!) The disadvantage is that the color will tend to wash out, after a few launderings, but this may not be an issue for you if you do not wash your canopy net very often. Also, there will be a lingering odor of coffee.
