Peach Leaf Curl. Anyone know of of a kinder to the enviroment/organic/non toxic way to treat it?

All my surrounding plants and trees are curling too now and I did treat them with a nasty chemical at leaf fall last year and bud burst this, any suggestions?

Peach Leaf Curl. Anyone know of of a kinder to the enviroment/organic/non toxic way to treat it?
The fungal spores are carried in rain droplets from one area to the next. I avoid peach leaf curl by keeping my peach tree in a large pot. It stays in the greenhouse until I have harvested all the fruit. Then outside for the summer. It goes back inside mid November. Since it is in the greenhouse no rain splash therefore no leaf curl. If your plant is planted in the soil you could cover it with a polythene sheet but it looks ugly.
Reply:sadly i cannot think of non toxic way to control peach leaf curl but there is a chemial sold in the garden centres called dithane. it is a good control for peach leaf curl and is also the control for potato blight.it is used by farmers and is still available for amateur gardeners.
Reply:Yes treat in the fall when 90% of the leaves have fallen. Pick up all the leaves and don't compost them.

The most effective fungicides are chlorothalonil (Bravo) or copper compounds (Kocide, COCS, etc.). Ziram, lime sulfur or Bordeaux are useful but somewhat less effective. Check the label for rates and other use recommendations.

But the problelm must be addressed.

Can you grow a peach tree from the seeds from store bought peaches?

Yes, it is possible to grow from a seed/pit, however you will likely not get the same fruit as the fruit your pit came from. The most common form of propogation for fruit trees is grafting...where a small branch of the desired tree is grafted to rootstock, which would then result in the exact type of fruit as the tree it was trimmed from.

Can you grow a peach tree from the seeds from store bought peaches?
Yes it is possible, but with no guarantee that the fruit will be as nice as the one you have eaten.
Reply:You can grow a tree from the pit. You may need to wait about ten years (if not more or at all) to get fruit. Works faster if you crack open the pit and remove the seed inside.
Reply:Not with genetically modified peaches. They would need to have pits and even then, its really hard. The best bet is to just buy a peach tree and plant it.

2 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons flour

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

2 pie crusts (top and bottom)

I need a peach pie recipe using can peaches?
I found a deep dish pie for you:

Deep Dish Pie from Canned Peaches

Crust:

1 cup flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup shortening

3 tablespoons cold water

Filling:

2 - 29 ounce cans of peaches

2 cups juice from the canned peaches (add water to make 2 cups if necessary)

1/4 cup cornstarch

1/2 cup sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

First prepare the crust. In a large bowl combine the flour and salt. Add the shortening, and mash it into the flour until it is crumbly. Add 3 tablespoons water and stir to combine. Now use your hands to press everything together to try and form a ball of dough. If it is too crumbly, then add more water a little at a time. You may not need any water. You may need another tablespoon, maybe even more. Keep pressing and gently kneading the mixture together until you get a stiff pie dough. Rip off two sheets of waxed paper. Place the ball of dough between the sheets and flatten it some with your hands. Use a rolling pin, or sturdy bottle or jar to roll the dough out between sheets of waxed paper. Work slowly and diligently, trying to make a large rectangle, a little bigger than your baking pan (I use a 9 by 9-inch square pan, but a 2-1/2 quart casserole would also work very well). It doesn't have to be perfect, so just do your best and don't worry about it. When you are done, set the dough (still wrapped up in the waxed paper) aside while you prepare the rest of the recipe.

Drain the juice from the canned peaches into a measuring cup. If you have more than 2 cups of liquid, you can drink or discard the extra (I put it in kool-aid usually). If you don't have 2 cups of liquid, then add enough water to make 2 cups.

In a very large saucepan, combine the cornstarch, sugar and nutmeg. Gradually stir in the peach liquid, and the lemon juice. Stir to dissolve the cornstarch. Heat the mixture over a medium flame, stirring very frequently. You could even stir constantly, if you had a mind to. Bring the mixture to a boil and boil for at least a minute, or until the mixture is very thick. Remove the pan from the heat and gently stir in the canned peaches. The mixture will thin out some. Turn the thick peach filling into a well oiled 2-1/2 quart casserole dish, or an oiled 9 by 9-inch square pan.

Loosen the waxed paper on both sides of the rolled out crust. Arrange it carefully on top of the filling. Crimp the edges if you have enough dough, otherwise, just let them lay where they fall. Score the dough into 6 servings. Bake it at 425° for about an hour. The top will be golden brown, the filling will be bubbly, and it will be very hot. Allow it to cool for a little bit before serving. Great with whipped topping or vanilla ice cream. This is a delicious way to make a very elegant dish out of inexpensive canned peaches.
Reply:**You can use drained canned peaches for either of these, just measure like the recipe calls for. Enjoy! **

Peach Cream Tart

Crust:

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened

2 tablespoons sour cream

Filling:

About 6 medium peaches, peeled and sliced*, or 1 (28-ounce) can and 1 (16-ounce) can sliced peaches in light syrup, well drained

3 large egg yolks

3/4 cup sour cream

3/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

Glaze:

1/2 cup peach preserves or jelly, warmed

1 tablespoon frozen lemonade concentrate

Preheat the oven the 375º F.

To make the crust, place the flour, butter, and sour cream in food processor and pulse to combine. When the dough has formed a ball, pat with lightly floured hands into the bottom and sides of an ungreased 10-inch tart pan with a removable bottom and 1/2-inch sides, or a round au gratin dish. Bake for about 15 minutes, until the crust is set but not browned. Let cool while preparing the filling.

Lower the oven temperature to 350º F.

To make the filling, if using fresh peaches, peel and thickly slice the peaches. Arrange the fresh or canned peach slices in overlapping circles on top of the crust, until it's completely covered. Overfill the crust, as peaches will draw up during cooking. Combine the egg yolks, sour cream, sugar, and flour and beat until smooth. Pour the mixture over the peaches.

Place the tart pan on a baking sheet and bake for about 1 hour, until the custard sets and is pale golden in color. Cover with an aluminum foil tent if the crust gets too dark.

Transfer the tart pan to a wire rack to cool. When cool, remove the side wall of the pan. To make the glaze, combine the preserves or jelly and lemonade. Spread with a pastry brush over the top of the warm tart. Serve the tart warm, at room temperature, or chilled.

*Cook's Note: If using fresh peaches, sprinkle with a little lemon juice after slicing.

On super princess peach how do i beat the giant monster who always kidnaps peach?

You must be referring to the Koopa King named Bowser. This is what you have to do to defeat him.

Whenever he wants to run into you, jump to his other side and use the "Angry" vibe. When he is just standing there, use the "Angry" vibe again. Just keep on using the "Angry" vibe when you have the chance.

Now Bowser will turn into Mega Bowser. He'll attack you with hammers, fireballs, hand stomps, spiky balls, and Bomb-ombs. When a Bomb-omb falls down, pick it up and throw it at Bowser's face just when the Bomb-omb is about to explode.

When Mega Bowser is down to his last life, he'll try to get another one back by blowing a giant bubble. You can tell he is going to do it whenever he closes his eyes. Get under him quickly, and use the "Angry" vibe. The bubble will go away in 2 seconds.

Throw the last Bomb-omb at his face, and you'll beat the game.

I always add the syrup to the batter...it just makes the cobbler more juicier and sweeter!
Reply:This recipe uses fresh peaches, but I would advise not to add the syrup as it may make the batter thinner than it should be.

Peach Cobbler Recipe courtesy Kristina Williamson, Schooner Ellida, Rockland, Maine

Cobbler filling:

4 cups peeled and sliced fresh peaches (blanch in boiling water for 30 seconds to remove the skins)

3/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 tablespoon flour

Cobbler crust:

1 cup flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

3 tablespoons brown sugar

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

2/3 cup buttermilk

1 tablespoon brown sugar, for topping

Whipped cream

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

Generously butter a 1 1/2-quart shallow baking dish. Place the sliced peaches in the dish and sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and flour. Mix gently and spread evenly again. Bake for 10 minutes.

Meanwhile combine all dry ingredients for cobbler crust in a bowl. Cut in the butter with a pastry cutter or your fingers, to make the texture like coarse crumbs. Add buttermilk and stir to form a soft dough.

Remove fruit from oven and drop rounded spoonfuls of dough on top. Sprinkle with last tablespoon of brown sugar and return to oven. Bake until fruit is bubbly and crust topping is golden brown, about 20 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream.

Reply:You need to drain them, in the peach cobbler recipes that call for canned peaches that I've seen. If you don't, the resulting peach filling will be awfully runny.

If you add the peach juice to the batter, it won't bake properly and will be a gooey mess, unless you omit an equal part of the other liquid the recipe calls for.
Reply:If the recipe calls for other liquid, you can compensate for the amount of syrup in the can.....
Reply:I drain the syrup personally but you can add a little to the batter for flavoring. Example- if your batter recipe calls for 1/2 cup of water, use 1/4 syrup from can and 1/4 water.
