My peach trees have yellowing leaves. I'm in SE New Mexico. It seems not normal. What might it be?

From what I have read, a few yellowing leaves is normal, especially with the hot summer we are going through this year.

From:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peach

"Watering

For optimum growth, peach trees require a constant supply of water. This should be increased shortly before the harvest. The best tasting fruit is produced when the peach is watered throughout the season. Drip irrigation is ideal, at least one dripper per tree. Although it is better to use multiple drippers around the tree, this is not necessary. A quarter of the root being watered is sufficient.

Fertilizing

Peaches have a high nutrient requirement, needing more nitrogen than most other fruit trees. An NPK fertilizer can be applied regularly, and an additional mulch of poultry manure in autumn soon after the harvest will benefit the tree. If the leaves of the peach are yellow or small, the tree needs more nitrogen. Blood meal and bone meal, 3–5 kg per mature tree, or calcium ammonium nitrate, 0.5–1 kg, are suitable fertilizers. This also applies if the tree is putting forth little growth.

Tips for good fruit

If the full amount of peaches is left, they will be under-sized and lacking in sugar and flavour. In dry conditions, extra watering is important. The fruit should be thinned when they have reached 2 cm in diameter, usually about 2 months after flowering. Fresh fruit are best consumed on the day of picking, and do not keep well. They are best eaten when the fruit is slightly soft, having aroma, and heated by the sun."

My peach trees have yellowing leaves. I'm in SE New Mexico. It seems not normal. What might it be?
You're dealing with a really hot summer in that part of the country; when this occurs, peach trees often drop leaves for the same reason that they drop them in the fall - to cut down on the need for water. As long as it's not a huge percentage of the leaves on the tree, it's probably best to simply allow it to happen. It's not THAT far from fall, and presumably your crop has already made. Just follow your normal routine to prepare for next year's crop.
Reply:Yellowing can be a sign of nutrient deficiancies too (usually iron or nitrogen) If you have a good garden center around, bring them some leaves, they should be able to tell whether it is a deficiancy or just from the heat.
Reply:could be lack of water or some of the leaves are old and turn color and fall off and new ones growl
Reply:They need ashes to get green, but a good goat, rabit excrement would help them also very good.

A peach tree will produce an average of 200 lbs. of fruit per year, unless it is too crowded by other trees.?

Fifty trees per acre is acceptable, but each additional tree over fifty will reduce the annual yield of each tree by 1 lb.

Write a rule for the total yield per acre whose input is the number of trees per acre.

Use the rule to find the total yield per acre if 70 trees per acre are planted.

Use the rule to find how many trees per acre should be planted to yeild 13,689 lbs. of fruit per acre.

A peach tree will produce an average of 200 lbs. of fruit per year, unless it is too crowded by other trees.?
you need to make a 'step function'

y = 200x for x%26lt;=50

and

y=(200 - (x - 50) )x

=(250 - x)x for x%26gt;=50

so the whole function is

y(x) = { 200x .............. for x%26lt;=50

..........{ (250 - x)x ........for x%26gt;50

put x=70 in the second part

gives y(70)=(250 - 70)70=12600lb

for 13689lb question note if x=50 y=10000%26lt;13689

so we need to solve the equate the 2nd part ie

(250-x)x = 13689

x^2 - 250x +13689 = 0

solve for x using the quadratic formula gives

x=81 and 169 so there are two answers,

it would obviously be easier and cheaper to maintain 81 trees than 169 though

What is the difference between peach cobbler and peach pie?

A pie has a shell bottom (pie crust) made out of flour butter (or shortening) and water. It doesn't necessarily need a top. A cobbler has the fruit touching the pan or baking dish with a topping on it normally made from sugars (brown and white) flour sometimes oatmeal. People sometimes even consider a cobbler fruit topped with Bisquick baked together. In short a pie has a crust bottom and can be sliced and served in wedges and a cobbler has no bottom except fruit and is normally scooped into a bowl.

What is the difference between peach cobbler and peach pie?
Not much!!! the cobbler is just bigger!!

My next door neighbor always made cobblers with bottom crusts and bits of crust in the fruit.

My mother always made cobblers with butter on bottom, then the batter poured over that and the fruit scattered on top.

My mother in law always made her cobblers with the bits of crust tossed in a large kettle, cooked on top of the stove not baked, with the fruit to make the fruit juice thicken.

Chuckwagon cooks like my granddad tossed the fruit into a buttered dutchoven and tossed biscuit dough on it, put the lid on and buried the thing over coals in the ground.

Pies are formal little things with a fancy crimped edge whether they get full top, no top or lattice top.
Reply:Some people make it almost the same, cobbler in square pan, no bottom crust, pie in a round one.

I make cobbler the way bisquick says, more or less. I get the juicy peach stuff ready, cut up a stick of butter and lay it on top, heat it in the oven. Then I make sweet dough with oatmeal %26amp; bisquick, milk %26amp; sugar. Then I make a streusel for the top--pecans, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon. I pull the hot peach stuff out and drop by spoonfulls the sweet dough, topped with streusel. Cook until done. It's great!
Reply:peach cobbler does not have a bottom crust like a pie does. Usually peach cobbler only has a struesel topping. both are very yummy though!
Reply:Cobbler is put into a larger pan, like a cake size pan or larger, and is usually more juicy than a pie. Peach is an awesome pie or cobbler. Pie you slice and is best if not too syryupy, and cobbler you scoop out. They are similiar otherwise, taste the same.

I see it most often in hiragana. I rarely see it in katakana, but I probably miss it when it's in kanji, so it could be written down all over the place without me noticing!!! But as I said, it's usually in hiragana.

My peach tree already has flowers but the temp tonite will be below freezing. Can it still bear fruit?

Can the tree handle a mild frost and still bear fruit?

My peach tree already has flowers but the temp tonite will be below freezing. Can it still bear fruit?
Check out the following website for information about critical temps for fruit at various stages of development. http://www.canr.msu.edu/vanburen/crtmptx...

If it is in full bloom, you will have 10% of your fruit killed at 27 degrees F. If the temperature drops to 24 degrees F, you will get 90% kill. Remember that cold air settles in the lowest spots of the landscape so the effects of a freeze will be greatest near the ground.

Commercial growers use several methods to protect their crops in the event of a late freeze. Here are a few:

1. Wind machines - circulate the air to prevent cold pockets.

2. Smudge Pots - pots that burn oil to keep temperatures up.

3. Overhead sprinkling - water is applied and it freezes sealing off the buds at a temperature that is above the critical stage.

In the event that temps will drop below the critical stage you can keep small fires burning near the tree, or place some other source of heat below them until temps rise high enough.
Reply:Usually not on peach trees....they seem to be the most delicate of the fruit trees. I live in the Midwest and the peach orchards have to use salamanders and fans to keep them from freezing . Those things keep the cold air pushed up so that the blossoms don't get damaged.
Reply:it won't yeild as much but if you want to make sure it stays okay take some old blankets or towels and wrap around it(all around but mainly at roots)this will usually help out a lot
Reply:best if you get some sheets cover it up and get up early and uncover it so it doesnt freeze if possible
Reply:More than likely, unless you can cover them, you'll probably lose most of them.
Reply:water it down with hose water will freeze but not the blossoms
Reply:The problem is the cold temperatures for a prolonged period of time. Some of the flowers will survive a mild frost and this thinning by mother nature will save you some thinning later but cold temperatures in the low 20's could take them all for this year ----time will tell You can break open a flower tomorrow morning and brown center means it is gone.

Yeah, that's a real tough one to find...lots of people have already asked about it and no one has found any lyrics. I think the closest anyone came was writing to Barcadi and they got a reply basically saying "thank you for your comment".

Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler

Original recipe yield: 18 servings.

--------------------------------------...

INGREDIENTS:

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

3 tablespoons white sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup shortening

1 egg

1/4 cup cold water

3 pounds fresh peaches - peeled, pitted, and sliced

1/4 cup lemon juice

3/4 cup orange juice

1/2 cup butter

2 cups white sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon white sugar

1 tablespoon butter, melted

--------------------------------------...

DIRECTIONS:

In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, 3 tablespoons sugar, and salt. Work in the shortening with a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and cold water. Sprinkle over flour mixture, and work with hands to form dough into a ball. Chill 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Roll out half of dough to 1/8 inch thickness. Place in a 9x13 inch baking dish, covering bottom and halfway up sides. Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.

In a large saucepan, mix the peaches, lemon juice, and orange juice. Add 1/2 cup butter, and cook over medium-low heat until butter is melted. In a mixing bowl, stir together 2 cups sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cornstarch; mix into peach mixture. Remove from heat, and pour into baked crust.

Roll remaining dough to a thickness of 1/4 inch. Cut into half-inch-wide strips. Weave strips into a lattice over peaches. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar, and drizzle with 1 tablespoon melted butter.

Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until top crust is golden brown.

INGREDIENTS:

9 fresh peaches

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1/2 cup white sugar

1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour

3 tablespoons white sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 cup butter, chilled

2/3 cup buttermilk

2 teaspoons white sugar

1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

------------------------------...

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F ( 205 degrees C).

Submerge peaches in boiling water for about 1 minute. The amount of time required to make the skin easy to peel varies with the degree of ripeness: if really ripe, it may take less time. Remove peaches with a slotted spoon, and run cold water on them. Slip off the skin. Cut peaches into wedges, and place in either a deep 10 inch pie plate or a 2 inch deep 2 quart baking dish. Toss peaches with lemon juice and 1/2 cup sugar. Cover with foil.

Bake 15 minutes, or until the peaches are hot and bubbly

Whisk together flour, 3 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, and baking soda. Cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture resembles small peas. Pour buttermilk over top, and toss with a fork until the mixture clumps together. Drop heaping tablespoons of dough over the peaches. In a small cup, mix 2 teaspoons sugar and nutmeg. Sprinkle over biscuits.

Bake until biscuits are golden brown, about 30 minutes. Set dish on wire rack to cool 10 to 15 minutes before serving.

Whether you use canned, fresh or frozen peaches will probably depend on the time of year. Whatever the season, this homey dessert will bring you praises. Try this favorite from the Betty Crocker Kitchens tonight.

1cup Original Bisquick® mix

1cup milk

1/2teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2cup butter or margarine, melted

1cup sugar

1can (29 ounces) sliced peach, drained

1 . Heat oven to 375ºF.

2 . Stir together Bisquick mix, milk and nutmeg in ungreased square baking dish, 8x8x2 inches. Stir in butter until blended. Stir together sugar and peaches; spoon over batter.

3 . Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until golden.
Reply:Look on the Bisquik box for the recipe for biscuits. Follow that recipe except add maybe a 1/2 cup of sugar. Peel and slice the peaches and put them in the bottom of a 13x9 baking dish. Drop the biscuit dough on top of the peaches by spoonsful and bake at 350 for 20 to 25 minutes. Serve hot with whipped cream or ice cream.

You can sprinkle the peaches with cinnamon if you like.

3 . Cut shortening into flour, 1 tablespoon sugar, the baking powder and salt in medium bowl, using pastry blender or crisscrossing 2 knives, until mixture look like fine crumbs. Stir in milk. Drop dough by 6 spoonfuls onto hot peach mixture.

4 cups peaches, chopped (fresh or canned)

6 slices bread, cubed

1/2 cup butter, melted

1 egg

1 cup sugar

1 tablespoon flour

Line bottom of 1 1/2-2 quart casserole dish with the chopped peaches, and cover them with bread crumbs.

Can peach trees grow in Indiana?

I have always wanted one but don't know if they can grow here

Can peach trees grow in Indiana?
I think anything can grow anywhere, if you can duplicate their environment. That is, if they need lots of water, but you are planting them in the desert - if you provide it with water, it will grow.

I live in Arizona, and of course, we are a desert. You'd be surprised as to the things we grow here. Maybe with a little shade and irrigation, you can grow anything.
Reply:Yes Peach trees can grow that far North, but only certain varieties will survive the occasional real bad winter,. Here is a site with some examples. http://gurneys.com/category.asp_Q_c_E_33
Reply:According to this website you can. Just make sure you have a sunny south facing place sheltered from the wind and you should do well.
Reply:We have peach trees in our backyard....(I'm in NW Indiana, so we get the harshest of winters...), and they have grown just fine (aside from one getting hit by lightning). They do attract a LOT of bees, though.

Pruning peach trees in dallasTX area when and how should this be done?

if you are going to do it, do it now before it warms up too much more. concentrate on the branches that will rub against each other and maybe the shoots in the top of the tree shooting taller. You want the tree getting wider rather than taller, if that makes any sense.

the link below will be on Peach Pruning from Tx A%26amp;M

Pruning peach trees in dallasTX area when and how should this be done?
Hey Irma,

The sap is flowing, and buds forming now... It might be a bit late to do it this year. You should prune the peach when it is dormant. There are method for pruning that are easy to learn about, see the Clemson Master Gardeners lesson plan below. Heading Back, and Thinning are two methods that produce different responses in the tree.

Heading back to a BUD, will cause that bud to grow. In this way we can imagine what the tree will look like in the future by seeing the direction the bud is growing to. That allows you to force growth outward from the center of the tree.

Thinning, (cutting selected branches back to a lateral branch or main trunk) is usually preferred over heading. Trees can be thinned to increase light penetration.

1. Remove dead, diseased or dying shoots and branches.

2. Remove one of two if branches are crossing.

3. Remove inward growing Branches (leave some so it does not have empty space)

4. Remove suckers

In the end, your tree should look as if it was not ever pruned, but you will know. Note that pruning will encourage fruiting.

Do peach tree has to have a male/female tree to produce fruit or it doesn't need that?

I had a cherry treey and I was told that I should have a couple of them to have polination to get fruit.

Any suggesions?

Do peach tree has to have a male/female tree to produce fruit or it doesn't need that?
Not all but in general most are self pollinating. So you only need one peach tree.

Yes the cherry needs two different kinds of sweet Cherry's to cross pollinate. (A sour Cherry will not pollinate a sweet.)

All sour Cherry's are like peaches and are good alone.
Reply:Actually, most sweet cherries and peaches are self-sterile. There are a couple varieties of each that will self-pollinate. Reliance peach will self pollinate, as will the Lapin sweet cherry.
Reply:If your neighbors have cherry trees close by, the bees can pollinate for you. Otherwise I would have two.

Mi peach face hates sun flower seeds dose anyone know y?

That's ok. There's a lot of fat in sunflower seeds. A love bird does not require a high fat diet like some birds do. Your bird will not have bad health because of no sunflower seeds.

Mi peach face hates sun flower seeds dose anyone know y?
You might try to find out what foods it received before you got it. It might have been fed pellets. I never had any luck trying to introduce pellets to our many birds through the years. If it was reared on pellets, it might not know that seeds are food.
Reply:Then feed it what it likes to eat. Safflower seeds, sesame sticks, millet. or just a good quality bird food mixture.
Reply:This isn't neccesarily a bad thing as sunflower seeds are very fatty for your bird. Some birds have different preferences, that's all. If you're looking for a treat to train your bird with, you can make small pieces from peanuts or other treats it may like.

Liqueurs like schnapps should be good, even up to a few years old. If storing it for an extended period of time (years), make sure it is capped tightly and examine it before you try it. It might contain some sediment due to oxidation (exposure to air) and the taste might be off. Either way, try it, it won't get you sick.

Combine peaches and 1 1/4 cups sugar in bowl.

Let stand for at least 4 hours.

To make pastry: combine flour and salt in bowl.

Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.

Add in enough ice-cold water until dough holds together.

Gather into ball and divide in half.

Refrigerate dough until needed or at least 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 350-degrees F.

Grease a baking dish (9x13-inch).

Pour undrained peaches into baking dish and dot with 1 stick butter (that was cut into pieces).

Roll 1 piece of dough out on floured board to a 1/8-inch thick rectangle.

Cut into 11 x 1-inch strips.

Arrange strips across peaches in one direction only, spacing them 1-inch apart.

Sprinkle with 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar.

Bake for 35 minutes or until pastry is beginning to brown.

While cobbler is baking, roll and cut remaining dough in strips (same as above).

After cobbler is out of oven, arrange strips on top of peaches to form lattice.

Sprinkle with remaining sugar.

Bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown.

How do I grow a peach tree from a peach pitt?

I've benn wanting to try this for a long time but am not sure if i put the pitt in soil, let it dry out first or what?any answers?

How do I grow a peach tree from a peach pitt?
It can be done. Caution: Don’t eat the raw kernel inside the pit. It contains hydrocyanic acid, a gastric irritant (destroyed by heat) which could potentially release toxic cyanide.
Reply:simple take the peach pit let it dry out then stick it in a pot of rich firtile soil and water. Then watch it grow. Make sure the pointed part of the pit is facing up.
Reply:Browse the web, i'm not going to do it for you. It would be much easier and more reliable than asking a bunch of strangers.
Reply:Buy a grafted tree from a nursery. and, Brother, they are a lot of work.Even then.If you're set on your plan..dry the kernel out for a couple days....plant out ..blood and bone and water twice a week deeply..if it's hot...water if needed. Good Luck.

I have a can of peaches in heavy syrup, can I make a peach cobbler or some other dessert out of it?

Any recipes? Thanks!

I have a can of peaches in heavy syrup, can I make a peach cobbler or some other dessert out of it?
you can make a peach cake...

get a yellow cake and prepare like the directions call for then... just place the peaches, syrup and all in the batter then put it in the pan.. bake the cake just as you would with out the peaches. The cake with me moister and fluffier. Plus.... GOOOOD
Reply:I've tried this and it is pretty goood Report It

Reply:Pour your peaches in a casserole dish - juice and all. Mix one cup milk, one cup sugar, and one cup flour. Pour over peaches. Oh, I almost forgot melt one stick butter in casserole dish first. Then do the other stuff, bake at 350 for 30-45 minutes. You can sprinkle with cinnamon if you like. Enjoy!!
Reply:Chill the peaches in the can for at least an hour. If the peaches are in halves, slice them into thinner slices; if they're already in slices, you're all set in that regard. Pick up a ready-made pound cake from your grocery store's bakery, slice into about 1/2 inch thick slices. Also pick up some vanilla ice cream. Drain chilled peaches, reserving the liquid in a small bowl; place peach slices on a slice of pound cake, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and drizzle some of the heavy syrup on top of the ice cream.. Simple, but a refreshing dessert; hope this helps!
Reply:found this quick and easy recipe on cooks.com awhile back and it was great. I have made it a few times with canned apple pie filling and once with fresh peaches. enjoy!

Cinnamon to taste

Reply:Pour the syrup off the peaches and make a pie. Save just a little of the syrup to mix with some corn starch to make a thickener.
Reply:you cam make jello and add the peaches.
Reply:Peach cobbler does sound good! Or have them over vanilla ice cream. And somewhere I saw a recipe for hot gingerred peaches.
Reply:Yup, sure can. I simmer it down in a pot on the stove with some cinnamon, butter, brown sugar, and a tiny bit of ginger. Then I spoon it over vanilla ice cream. YUM!
Reply:Certainly! Go to www.allrecipes.com and look up recipes for peaches.....
Reply:Pour the peached drained into a caserole dish, make a crumble with 1/2 cup of margerine, 1/4 cup flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 3/4 cup oatmeal and 1 tsp cinamon. lightly press the the crumble onto the peaches and bake at 350 for 25 min let cool and serve with icecream or cream. Yummy!

9 1/2 ounces all purpose flour, approximately 2 cups

1 ounce sugar, approximately 2 tablespoons, plus 1 cup sugar

1 tablespoon freshly grated lime zest

1 teaspoon kosher salt, plus 1/4 teaspoon

4 1/2 ounces unsalted butter, chilled and cut into small pieces, plus extra for dish

1 1/2 ounces lard, chilled and cut into small pieces

1 1/2 ounces ice water, approximately 3 tablespoons

2 tablespoons cornstarch

1 pound rhubarb, chopped into 1/2-inch pieces

1 pound sliced peaches, peel on and sliced into 1/2 to 1-inch pieces

1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Place a piece of aluminum foil on the bottom rack to catch any drippings. Butter a 9 by 9-inch glass baking dish and set aside.

Place the flour, 1-ounce sugar, lime zest, and 1 teaspoon salt into the bowl of a food processor and pulse 3 to 4 times. Add the butter and lard and pulse until the mixture just becomes crumbly. Sprinkle or spritz the mixture with the ice water a little at a time and process just until the dough holds together when squeezed in a fist. Place the dough into a 1 gallon zip top bag and form into a disk. Place the dough into the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, while you prepare the filling.

In a medium mixing bowl whisk together the 1 cup of sugar, cornstarch, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Stir in the rhubarb, peaches, and lime juice.

Remove 1/3 of the dough from the bag, pinch into pieces and distribute evenly in the bottom of the prepared dish. With the remaining dough still in the bag, roll it out to a sheet large enough to cover the top of the dish. Pour the fruit mixture into the dish and top with the dough that has been removed from the bag, pressing the dough into the corners of the dish. Bake, uncovered, for 60 minutes or until the dough is cooked through and starting to turn golden. *If using frozen fruit, increase cooking time to 90 minutes.

Change the oven setting to broil and continue to cook until golden brown, approximately 3 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to stand for 15 to 30 minutes before serving.
Reply:5-6 peeled, sliced fresh peaches, 9x13 inch baking dish...layer the peaches in the pan with 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 stick sliced butter...drizzle just a bit of water over top...now for the easy homemade cobbler crust...in a bowl put 1 cup flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, mix together and into this cut 4 1/2 heaping teaspoons shortening...make crumbly (mixing it more than this will result in a tough crust) roll out on lightly floured surface, and then cut into thin strips, arranging them over top of pie filling in criss-cross pattern. cook in pre-heated 350 degree oven about thirty minutes til filling is bubbly and crust is golden brown. good served with vanilla ice cream, or whipped cream...enjoy.

This is one easy peach cobbler that can be made with a store-bought crust and canned peaches.

Preheat oven to 350. Move the bottom crust into an 8 in square pan, pinch and shape into place. Put in peaches and juice from 1 can (more if you like), add pats of butter, sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, and just a pinch of nutmeg.

Top with a prepared purchased top crust, pinch and shape over bottom crust to seal. Cut slits and sprinkle lightly with sugar if desired.

Put in 350 oven and bake until brown and bubbly top and bottom.

Should "peach fuzz" on a woman's face be waxed off? Or permanently removed? Or neither??

I just leave it. Just be happy it's "peach fuzz" instead of a brown or black beard. At least the peach color isn't as noticable, and I think we have too much hair removal to deal with anyway. It's too much work.

But basically it is a personal hygiene matter, it's up to the individual and their needs and what they are comfortable with.

How can i keep worms away from a peach tree???

all the peaches we have had had worms in it how can i get rid of them and what would you recommend??

How can i keep worms away from a peach tree???
Spray them with a dormant spray when it is not raining or snowing; and be sure to remove any mummies (peaches still hanging on the tree that are shriveled up) and clean all the leaf debris from around the tree. You can also use Neem oil and copper spray which help with leaf curl and biotic diseases that cause pests to gravitate to your tree.
Reply:Identifying the pest is 99% of the battle and in order to advise you on a cure, it would be nice to know where you live as different insect pests are common to certain locations. Having this info, allows a person to find a means of just what type of control is needed. Indiscriminate applications of "dormant oil" and "timely applications" of a pesticide before a pest is identified, is an unsafe practice as far as pest control goes. Insects have different stages of their developement that allow for the "right" insecticide to be utilized for maximum control. Applying an insecticide for no reason (not knowing just what it is that your are spraying for) isn't the way to go here. I will check back later to see if you have added more info to this question, then I can give you my professional recommendation.

lol lol.... I can see where this question is headed!

...$Billy Ray$
Reply:timely insecticide applications..a bit before the flower buds open in the spring then again after pollination and then every few weeks through fruit growth. There are numerous products on the market but I still have the best results with fewer treatments with malathion

In the dormant season dormant oils can be an aide

I need a Good recipe to make peach wine?

I need to know about how many peaches I would need to buy to make a 3 gallons?

I need a Good recipe to make peach wine?
PEACHES

Peach wine is very good, but peaches themselves have very little body and a second ingredient is necessary for a healthy body. I've provided three recipes below. The first uses raisins; the second uses bananas and makes a superb golden wine; the third uses white grape juice. I think you'll find something acceptable among them.

Peach and Raisin Wine

3 lbs ripe peaches

1/2 cup chopped raisins

2-1/2 lbs granulated sugar

1 large lemon

1/2 tsp pectic enzyme

1 qt boiling water

1 crushed Campden tablet

1 tsp yeast nutrient

Sauterne wine yeast

Wash peaches in cool water. Do not peel. Slice thinly into primary, discarding stones. Mash the peaches and add chopped raisins and half the sugar. Pour in the boiling water and stir to dissolve sugar. Cover primary with sterile cloth and set aside until reaching room temperature, then add cool water to equal one gallon. Add juice of large lemon and crushed Campden tablet. Recover and set aside 12 hours. Add pectic enzyme and set aside another 12 hours. Stir in yeast nutrient and sprinkle yeast on top of must. Allow to ferment 5 days, stirring twice daily. Strain through nylon straining bag, squeezing firmly to extract juice. Add remainder of sugar, stir well to dissolve, then pour into secondary without topping up and fit airlock. Top up when fermentation dies down. Rack every three weeks until wine clears and fermented to bone dryness. Allow another two weeks, rack final time and bottle. Can right away, but will mellow considerably in six months. [Adapted from Dorothy Alatorre's Home Wines of North America]

Peach and Banana Wine

3 lbs ripe peaches

1 lb ripe bananas

3 lbs granulated sugar

1/2 tsp citric acid

1/2 tsp pectic enzyme

5 pt boiling water

1 crushed Campden tablet

1 tsp yeast nutrient

Sauterne or Champagne wine yeast

Peel bananas, slice, and place in saucepan with one pint boiling water. Simmer 20 minutes, then strain without squeezing. Meanwhile, destone and slice peaches into primary. Mix half the sugar in with peaches and cover with four pints boiling water. Stir to dissolve sugar. When cool, add banana juice, citric acid, crushed Campden tablet, and enough water to bring total to one gallon. Cover and wait 12 hours. Add pectic enzyme, recover and wait another 12 hours. Stir in yeast nutrient and sprinkle yeast on top of must. Recover and ferment 3-4 days, stirring twice daily. Pour through nylon straining bag, squeezing well to extract as much juice as possible. Stir in half the remaining sugar, transfer to secondary and fit airlock without topping up. In 5 days add remainder of sugar, stir well, and refit airlock. When active fermentation dies down, top up and refit airlock. Rack every three weeks until fermentation is complete and wine clears. Wait additional three weeks and rack into bottles. Allow to age 3-6 months before tasting. [Adapted from Brian Leverett's Winemaking Month by Month]

Peach and Grape Wine

3 lbs ripe peaches

12 oz can frozen white grape concentrate

2-1/4 lbs granulated sugar

1-1/2 tsp acid blend

1/2 tsp pectic enzyme

1/4 tsp tannin

water to one gallon

1 crushed Campden tablet

1 tsp yeast nutrient

Champagne wine yeast

Put the water on to boil. Wash the peaches but do not peel. Cut in halves, remove stones and put in nylon straining bag and tie it closed. Put in primary and mash and squeeze with hands until no solids remain. When water boils, dissolve sugar in it. Pour over peaches. Add can of frozen white grape juice. When must cools, add acid blend, yeast nutrient, tannin, and crushed Campden tablet. Cover primary and set aside 12 hours. Stir in pectic enzyme and set aside another 12 hours. Sprinkle yeast on top of must and recover. Stir daily for 10 days, then drip drain pulp without squeezing. Siphon off sediments into secondary and fit airlock. Rack every 30 days until fermentation completely ends and wine clears. Set aside two months and rack again into bottles. Taste any time after three months.

would they get along with a green cheek???

I know how to "introduce" them but would it not be a good idea all together?

SORRY FOR ALL MY QUESTIONS!

Peach fronted conure?!?!?!?
i had one, he was not hand fed but not too scared. He talked some and got along great with a sun conure, cockatiel and parakeets.
Reply:I owned a Peach Front, it's hard to say in general how the bird will be in general, I find that they all have different personalitys, one may be real sweet and social and others may be aggressive, this has a lot to do with how they were raised as babies. I have housed different bird species together, in general it is usually good to keep them in separate cages, but it is not impossible to house them together, I recommend that you let them get used to each other outside of the cage, the big problem with parrots is that when they have a cage they are very protective of their area, if you have a cage that is neither the Peach Fronts or the Green Cheeks you may have more success, then they are introduced on neutral ground and one is not in the others territory.
Reply:I find peach fronts to be agressive compared to the green check the green check is far more pet quality than peach front . i find that most conures that have been raised by themselves are far better staying that way . I doubt a peach front would get along with anything . I had one that was so agressive that I absoloutly could not do anything with it even after several days after ayr I finally gave up.
Reply:Peach fronted conures are one of the sweetest of the conures and actually one of the ones that is not quite as noisy. (they are still noisy, but not as much as a sun conure) He should do okay with your green cheek. We have some together here where I work. (read my profile) They get along, but they are all about the same age. You should have a spare cage available just in case they don't get along. Be sure to quarantine the new bird for 14 days

Reply:Drain the liquid off and make the cobbler as if you had fresh peaches. Freeze the syrup until you have enough to use on pancakes.
Reply:Here is one, very simple Receipe; Mix tog 1 Cup EACH of self-rising flour, sugar, %26amp; milk; set this aside. Melt 1 whole stick of butter in your baking dish ( I used a glass square); then pour the mixture over the butter, but do not stir it in. Open/drain a large can of Sliced-Peaches %26amp; put the slices over the top. Bake at 350 an half-an-hour or so until done. The self-rising flour will cause the dough to ride to the top, during baking. You need not add anything else to this.

Peach colored blush!?

http://s247.photobucket.com/albums/gg141...

do you know of any brands that peachy/orangy color?

:]

Peach colored blush!?
yup! To be honest, most brands do loads of different shades of blusher, so they shouldn't be too hard to find...

I have heard (though personally have never tried) Nars blushers are good.

This is a nars one called 'orgasm' (yeah it's a bit of an odd name for a blusher...)

And this is another one from nars called deep throat:

AND if you want REALLY orangey then try taj mahal! :

http://images.shopping.msn.com/img/2512/...

plenty of other brands do orangey blush too, but I reckon your best bet is this; Georgia by benefit. It's really good and gives a really nice peachy glow:

Good luck! Hope i helped! :-)
Reply:I use a dior bronzer from the girly colection as a blush some times im not sure where you can get it any more tho, sence it was a special edition item. But i guess you can check with them any ways.

Can I start a peach tree from a fresh peach seed, if so, how do I do it?

We just transplanted one. Cracked th pit, planted it in a big peat pot, kept it sheltered in a starter bed till it was about a year old and transplanted it to the yard. Doing great.

Can I start a peach tree from a fresh peach seed, if so, how do I do it?
Yes you can but, why would you want to? Peach trees, as are most fruit trees, are grafted. That is they are grafted on to a root stock. This is for many reasons. One is that the root stock is particularly resistant to a particular disease or pest that the original root stock is vulnerable. Or two, they are grafted on to a particular root stock to control size. If you only want a peach tree to grow to 10 feet instead of normal 15 plus then you graft it on to a dwarf root stock. One big drawback for planting your own fruit tree from seed is the almost all fruit trees are a hybrid. That is they are a cross of at least two different varieties and the seed will only be true to one variety, not both. So the tree will be one generation back from the original tree and you will not know which of the two varieties it will be.
Reply:you need to dry the nut, then once its totally dry, crack it open with nutcrackers, take out the kernel, dry that...then place it in a dark container for a couple of weeks [ i put them in the fridge to simulate winter] , then soak it for a day, embed it in soil and let it sit in a warm dark area until shoots appear...transfer to sun and treat like any other plant
Reply:Don't think you can - I have tried apple pips, orange seeds and so on - it never worked. I can tell you what did work though - sunflower seeds (the ones you buy in the health shops and eat) yeh my little plant is growing. Also I have planted black peas in the past and have got a lovely bushy plant from them - good luck.

Has anyone here ever planted a peach pit & actually had it grow into a tree?

My daughter wants to do this with some of the peaches we are freezing, and I was just wondering what chance of success we have and if there is anything special we should know about growing it if it happens to sprout.

Has anyone here ever planted a peach pit %26amp; actually had it grow into a tree?
Just to increase your odds of one growing, I would use a lot of pits...soak them in warm (but not boiling hot) water overnight, then I would plant a row of them and bury the pits under about 1-2" of soil (I would vary the depth too, just to increase the odds). Or, you can scatter them in a pot and keep it in partial shade and water it regularly. I have grown several peach trees from the pits with my kids, and it's pretty fun when one starts poking out of the ground! You can also do it now and one could pop up this spring.
Reply:nope never have.
Reply:sounds like an old wives tale to me you might need to crack it open to let the seed out......but thats just me
Reply:you can actually grow a peach tree with the pit you just need to research when the best time is to grow your tree in your climate and what time of year to do it. Check what soil it should be grown in and at what temperature and time of year. That is your best bet.
Reply:Actually it's not that uncommon. When I was a kid, a neighborhood friend buried a peach pit and it sprouted the next spring. The trees themselves are fairly hardy, but the blossoms and fruit are extremely prone to frost damage in northern climates.

I have had several peach pits sprout through the years. Plant them only a couple of inches under the soil. A good rich composted soil will yield the best results. Don't attempt to transplant for the first couple of years. Protect the tree with ratwire the first couple of years since rodents and deer like the tender sweet bark in the winter. When you transplant, prepare a rich soil environment and make sure you do not destroy any roots. Plant in full sun and water regularly.

You might want to look into proper pruning because a crop of peaches will cause branches to sag and break.

Good luck with your peach project.
Reply:i've always thought about it.... but never actually done it. i planted a few beans once and they grew into this magic beanstalk thing. it was pretty sweet. good luck with the peach.
Reply:A peach does not need a male and female plant, they are self polenating, so if you have a good seed it will grow a tree. However the tree will probably not produce fruit, or it will be very poor quality fruit.

I would also, as someone else suggested, plant it with the hard shell cracked open.

Don't over water or it will rot. Plant several under a thin layer of well drained potting soil, place them in a bright place. But outside is probably too hot for them right now.

I must say, my parents grew several types of fruit and I never saw any of them sprout just from falling on the ground.

You could just buy a small seedling peach tree and your daughter could help tend to it and watch it grow.

An easier thing to grow would be an avacado or potato! Good luck!
Reply:Throw all the pits back on the garden and lightly cover them with soil and if you are lucky one or two will arise next spring
Reply:I have not.
Reply:i use to do this as a kid myself but the only thing i ever had any luck with was watermelon. peaches wont grow in florida the climate is too humid. good luck
Reply:You need to plant the whole peach. The peach will serve as food for the young, forming roots, and greatly increase the chances of success.
Reply:Okay, this is how to do it. First remember that this is not an easy task. When you have chosen your seed, let it dry for 24hrs. Now place seed in a Ziploc bag with potting soil slightly moistened or use paper towels if soil not available. Place in refrigerator and keep temp at 33 to 41 degrees. Do all this in January and take seed out and plant in April. Plant seed in rich soil at a depth of 2", it should sprout in about 6 to 8 weeks. Good luck.
Reply:Put the seed outside for one winter--Put it about 4" underground--in the Spring put it in a 4" pot, water the potting soil about once a week, and put it in a window seal for sunshine- it may sprout, but will not grow a peach- it takes two to tango, good luck
Reply:if you freeze the peach you kill the seed or pit. If you have a fresh peach and you put it top soil in an well water releasing pot in other words dont drown it. you can also use some pete moss and cow manure in the mix .and in about 8 weeks it will sprout plant it about 2 inches deep in a 12" inch round and deep pot put some small pebbles in the bottom of the pot to help you keep from drowning the plant . put it direct sun hopefully you live in the south like me .peach trees cannot handle a freeze so keep it mobile
Reply:lol, nope I never tried.
Reply:nope not me never planted a plant of any kind

Peach face baby birds when do they walk?

I have a baby that hatched on march 3rd the baby moves from one siide to the other in the nesting box and it stands but does'nt walk. My parents had a baby in Nov and it died in Dec at a month old it did'nt walk , crawl, or stand They both looked very healthy in appearence

Peach face baby birds when do they walk?
At around 4 weeks a baby should be peeking out of the nest, standing and walking some (they don't really walk around much as they mostly sleep or wait for their parents to feed them at this age). He should try coming out of the nest not long after (by about 6 weeks) to start trying to fly some. They are adults at about 4 months, but should not be breeding until at least 8 months for their own health.

Peach swisher sweets?

are they any good and what is your fav

Peach swisher sweets?
think your in the wrong section sweetie, gave up smoking 10 yrs ago and went onto drinking. Can't win can you.
Reply:Yes, they are very good, if you are talking about the mini cigars. My husband likes the peach, the strawberry and the grapes. In our cold weather, right now, the "Icey" ones are very refreshing to the throat. I am not sure that that is the name but they are heavy on the mint. If you are not talking about these treats, forgive me. Hopefully someone else who is reading your answers will find this helpful.

How do you make peach pie filling from canned peaches?

Here you go - fantastic peach cobbler (slight variation)

Triple-Crust Peach Cobbler

When two crusts in a cobbler just aren’t enough, try this recipe. You’ll find three flaky layers separated by sweet, juicy peaches.

3 packages (11 ounces each) Betty Crocker® pie crust mix

1 cup cold water

1 1/2 cups sugar

3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted

2 teaspoons ground nutmeg

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

2 teaspoons vanilla

2 teaspoons lemon extract

2 cans (29 ounces each) sliced peaches in syrup, undrained

1 . Heat oven to 350ºF. Stir 1 package pie crust mix and 1/3 cup of the cold water until mixture forms a ball. Flatten ball; roll into rectangle, 11x8 inches. Cut into 4 strips, 11x2 inches each. Place strips on ungreased cookie sheet; bake 18 minutes. Set aside.

2 . Stir 1 package pie crust mix and 1/3 cup of the cold water until mixture forms a ball. Flatten ball; roll to fit bottom and sides of ungreased rectangular baking dish, 13x9x2 inches. Place in dish; set aside.

3 . Stir together sugar, butter, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, lemon extract and peaches in large bowl. Pour half of mixture in baking dish. Arrange the 4 pastry strips on top. Pour remaining half of peach mixture on top.

4 . Stir 1 package pie crust mix and remaining 1/3 cup cold water until mixture forms a ball. Flatten ball; roll to fit on top of mixture in baking dish. Cut several holes or slits in crust. Place crust on top of mixture in baking dish; seal to edges of dish.

5 . Bake about 1 hour or until crust is golden brown. Store covered in refrigerator.

How do you make peach pie filling from canned peaches?
They are already cooked if you bake them in a pie they will be mushy. You can strain the liquid and season it with lemon juice, cinnamon, and a little nutmeg. Bring the liquid to a boil and thicken the juice with a mixture of cornstarch dissolved in cold water. You can add the peaches to this, but I would not suggest baking any further. You can make a crumb topping and Brown it under a broiler, the crumbs can get brown and the peaches will stay warm and not over cook. If you want to make peach pie use frozen peaches and ask the question again.
Reply:I use canned peaches just like fresh except I drain the juice. I put flour and sugar in botton of pie crust, mix together. I then put in peaches and top with more sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and butter. Cover and bake as usual. Comes out pretty good.
Reply:Dissolve some cornstach in water.

Just so that it looks like milk.

Heat the peaches with the juice in a sauce pan until it reaches a simmer. Do not boil!

Slowly stir in cornstarch/water while stirring constantly.

Juice will thicken like a sauce.

Ta dah!

Pie filling!

You could get fancy, and add some brown sugar, and vanilla, but you won't die with out it.

If you don't have cornstarch you can use flour.

Good luck
Reply:To use can peaches for pie you drain juice off and run cold water over them and let drain; while you prepare your pie crust, in large mixing bowl add your brown sugar, cinnamon, and pwder sugar put in 350 oven and bake for 1 hr.
