Why was princess toadstool's name changed to Princess Peach?

i just started to play super mario rpg, and i just rememver that her old name was toadstool, why change to peach? cause they added daisy?

Why was princess toadstool's name changed to Princess Peach?
I'm not sure, but I think Peach is just her nickname. My reasoning for this is that in Super Mario 64, at the beginning you recieved a letter signed as "Princess Toadstool - Peach"

Reply:No, in the series, Daisy was Mario's first love. Then came the game that has Princess Toadstool before the series. But, in the series, they eventually added a character with a mushroom on his head named Toadstool, I think he was the king's adviser. So, to prevent confusion, they replaced Princess Toadstool's name in the game to Princess Peach, and added Princess Peach in the series so people would get familiar with the name, but I think Princess Toadstool still sticks to the mind of the people.
